On Friday the 29th of June over 400 pupils (called ‘Energizers’) gathered together in the EM2 Barn in Groningen for the finals of the Energy Challenges North region! This is a campaign where children become owners of the energy bill of the school and thus playfully come into contact with sustainability and energy.

The EM2 Barn is a beautiful former warehouse with an alternative and sustainable touch. This was the conclusion of their savings campaign at school.

Upon entering there was many tense but especially more enthusiastic faces. Who will be receiving prizes?

The judging jury determined which schools were awarded the prizes; the panel comprised of representatives from both politics and industry.

There was more than enough prices to win! No school went home empty-handed!

The main prize, in Primary Education, was won by De Windroos, a school from Zuidhorn, standing out because they have achieved all the stars in a very unique way!

Het Lauwerscollege from Buitenpost won the prize for Secondary Education. It was a difficult decision for the jury, as all the Energizers have worked incredibly hard in the past six months. All the achievements were allowed to show on the Energy Market.

The Energy Challenges organisation looks back on a very successful finale, in which they showed what they already knew...

If you let the youth become the owner of the energy bill and let their brain loose on sustainable solutions and innovations, then it will be okay with the world!

Energy Challenges believes in the power of the Energizers. For this reason, there will be another campaign in Northern regionof the Netherlands next year with even more participating schools.
